Skate Skiing

Today was Nordic Fest! Everything was free, skis, boots, poles, lessons. Today I woke up at 7:15am, got all my stuff packed, went to breakfast, then headed up to the trails. It was my first time driving up the curvy mountain road, and it was SNOWY! The speed limit is 60mph, and I never went over 40mph.

Also it was about 9degs and windy and snowy at the start of the lesson. My hands were super cold so I did the little fist in the glove thing where the fingers of the gloves just flop around. Once we started moving I warmed up and was able to wear the gloves normally. And the sun came out for the last hour.

My lesson was for skate skiing. It's different than classic skiing. If you've watched cross country skiing or the biathlon during the Olympics thats what you saw. If you've seen people going around the golf course who look kind of like they're walking, thats classic. I learned I'm a classic skier after an hour and a half of trying and trying skating. The motion is similar to ice skating where you push sideways. Hour and a half, not a whole day like I've done with classic. Hour and a half, not like 6 hours of hiking. I got in my car to drive home and made it down the road about 5mins, and my butt started hurting. ACHEY SORE HURT! And it's still going 8hrs later.

If you want a good exercise do leg lifts to the back and out a little. Then start pushing or thrusting out! Or go ice skating or skate skiing!

I was outside, but didn't take any pictures, just like yesterday. Did you do anything to make those muscles ache this weekend?
