I didn't want to seem rude

today I made my first every turkey. I won the turkey about 3 weeks ago and finally roasted it up. Until last night I was under the impression that my aunt an I would be spending the day cooking together. Then last night I find out we are not going to breakfast together and she is not going to be helping me. She won't even be in town! My uncle had said he would and my aunt would take an intern skiing this morning.

Today started with me hardly sleeping last night. 1) I didn't take my sleeping meds. 2) I was listening to my book on tape before bed and they found a body in the freezer and then someone tried to kill them. So I being alone in my duplex didn't sleep much. I need to stick to fairy tales or crosswords and not murder mysteries.

When I finally decided to get out of bed, I went to breakfast downtown. A Honda commercial was being made on Main St so I watched that for a while. Then I bought groceries and the turkey was in the oven by noon.

Dinner started at five. The turkey turned out great. The gravy was a bit salty but that's ok because I don't really eat gravy. We also had beans and potatoes. I was full after dinner BUT...my cousin and her boyfriend made a cranberry cherry pie. I didn't want any, but I didn't want to be rude.

I bet you've said that before. Maybe about your gramma's pie, or what someone orders at a restaurant that they think you'll love. Or doing a project.

BUT have you ever said that about exercise. I didn't want to move but my friend was running a marathon and I didn't want to be rude. OR I've never run but everyone was going to the track and I didn't want to be rude. OR I wanted to drive but they were riding bikes and I didn't want to be rude.

That's something to think about especially now when holidays and family gatherings are upon us. So I don't want to be rude by passing up someone's treat. But isn't it also rude for them to make you eat, to not go workout with you? Isn't it rude for them to possibly mess up tomorrow's workout?

Well Captain Hindsight strikes again! But I will definitely think about this at the next party.

What's your plan for the party circuit? Especially at parties where you don't know many people.

  1. I agree with you. why is it rude to pass on food, but not rude to skip a workout with someone?

  2. I like that thought. I'm sure I'll use it during the next few weeks.
