Running Day

Today was running club at the state park. This morning was actually really nice about 35deg and a small south wind. The event was a 50K but it was really just a 5K that you did on the trail or road and then repeated as many times as you wanted.

I did the road route and set my timer on my watch to 15mins. I started running and by running I mean slightly (if at all) faster than walking. Then I ran and ran and ran! I did 15mins and then walked for about 5mins and ran ANOTHER 15mins. I thought I was almost done with the 5K. See the road route went out south and then came back north, then went past the start! I was mentally done so that last run/walk bit wasn't too fun.

I finished in 50m:21s but I really wasn't going for time. I proud of my performance. On the running plan I was supposed to walk 3, run 15, walk til rested, run to 30min. I think I'll do this workout at the gym and maybe go a little faster than today.

Yesterday wasn't so good on the goals. I overate, and didn't do my ab workout. AH well today went much better. After the run today we went to a restaurant for lunch. I thought I'd order eggs because those go with my low carb little diet. But the lunch menu was out, no breakfast :( But they had a FANTASTIC plate, tomatoes and cottage cheese and steak! I love love love cottage cheese and tomatoes and my friends would make so many jokes. They had it on the menu. num num num num num :D

ALSO there is a giveaway going on over at Run, Courtney, Run. It's for compression socks. I'm super excited about it because these help with shin splints and recovery. Check it out!

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm now following yours and look forward to following your journey! I'm trying to get into running now and it's infectious. I started with 5Ks last year, then I moved on to a 10K and now I'm signed up for a half marathon in March. I'll be checking your blog for tips!!

  2. Oh, I am a fan of tomatoes and cottage cheese and steak too; they go so good together. Super job on the 5k, that's quality exercise you treated yourself to!

  3. Great job on the 5K! I think that is a great distance to use as a starter, or to come back to repeatedly to strive for personal records!
