Questions

Patrick tagged me in a little game. Answer 4 questions, tag 4 bloggers, ask 4 questions. Here Goes!
1- You are banished to a small island with seeds to grow one veggie, that's all you get to eat for eternity, which veggy do you choose?
Sweet potatoes!!!! In a perfect island with an oven and EVOO I could make chips, fries, mashed, and add some brown sugar for dessert. Also on this perfect island I could actually grow plants and not end up with a cemetery of my failed attempts.
2- Farthest distance at one time you have ever walked/jogged/ran/biked, etc. under your own power? I think it was hiking this summer when our 4hr hike turned out to be over 6hrs. We usually have 2mph pace so that would be about 12 miles! The longest I've ever run was 20 whole minutes!
3- Do you consider Friday the 13th to be unlucky, lucky, or neither? I think I associate it more with scary than unlucky. Like I think freak accidents will happen like power outages, as opposed to me fallen more often.
4- What was the last furry thing you touched? And did you eat it? I think the last thing would've been my friends dog, Bailey. I didn't eat her. But I am dog sitting her this weekend and if she get's really annoying then maybe I will.

I say "Tag you're it" to these 4 people:
Deb
Lori

Courtney
Jessica

I ask:
  1. What's your mantra/motivational words/favorite quote?
  2. What was your favorite book as a child? Why?
  3. What is your favorite recipe? or cookbook?
  4. What do you want for Christmas!?

Also I'm joining the "me" movement! I was going to just copy and paste the pledge here but I decided to print it off so I could post it in my room and see if often. They held a "twitter party" the other night and asked some great questions I decided I'd answer the questions even though I didn't go to the party....and I don't have twitter.

Q1: Tell me one thing you are excited about this holiday season!
Pretty decorations! I love the lights and tinsel and having a fire (the one at my house is electric but it looks pretty) UNFORTUNATELY the family in Montana only decorates the week before Christmas. See my gramma used to have coffee time at her house most Saturdays. While my brother was home at Thanksgiving he would put the tree up so it would be ready for the first Saturday in December. We would spend all day decorating the tree (my mom's a light fanatic), the mantle, and doing the pictures. One of my favorite things was a 4ft dia wreath made out of pine cones! Also I've always had a fake tree. They're great, you can move the branches where you want, they don't shed, and they don't die, and you can put it up whenever you want!

Q2: What do you find most challenging about the holidays? Not munching. My family loves cocktail hour. Cheese dip, olive dip, cheese and crackers, chex mix, oyster crackers. So first we gather drink and snack, then we have a big family style meal, then pass out dessert. I'm getting bloated just thinking about it. What makes it really hard is that if you try to have a light lunch then I end up really hungry at snack time and overindulge at snacks and dinner.

Q3: How does it feel when you don’t make time for yourself? Like I'm not there. I'm just moving along with my body. I just stop engaging myself and draw back. I'm usually pretty good of knowing when to say when as far as me goes. If I have a headache, I need to take a nap or I'm be an uber crab. I need to be ok showing up late because I worked out. Then I'll miss part of snack time too :) As far as time for myself I think that would be more just making a sandwich at home instead of going out to yet another meal.

Q4: Describe a time where you took better care of others because you put yourself first. Like I said in the last question I know when I get a headache I need to just take a nap and not try to do "one more thing". I end up being snotty and rude and no help at all when I try to work through it. I was a scowling teenager at enough family meals that I'm sure no one wants me to bring that face back.

Q5: How do U feel about New Years Resolutions? I like them. It's nice to know other people are starting a fresh page too. As a big holiday it seems like a bigger deal than "I'll start Monday". It's a good jumping off point. I don't believe in "2011 will be completely different", or "2011 will be the year to lose weight". Setting actual goals is better like "go to the gym 4 days a week" and "make big meals on sunday to have food for the week". ALSO I work at a gym so New Years Resolutions get me A LOT of commissions! This week I've already signed up 8 people and I'm sure it will increase as New Year's approaches. $)

Q6: How can putting yourself first make this a happier, healthier holiday season? I get headaches when I eat too much sugar. Less sugar, less headaches, less crabby me, less naps, more family quality, more pants that fit.
