Dear Gym

I miss you a little. Sunday was a big hike day, Monday I was exhausted, and today I just couldn't find the time and my orthodics got left out in the rain. [they were dirty from the hike, then I rinsed them off, and set them in the sun, and then went out to run errands, and then it rained :( ] Tomorrow I plan on going in the morning, or after the club run. Or both! I've been slacking, I'm sorry. My butt needs to sweat like WHOA! Time to really push it on the elliptical!

This brings up something I've been pondering for a while. What's the difference between a reason and an excuse?

Breaking your leg: reason, Feeling blah: excuse....but what about all the in between stuff? I always try to pump myself up and say "Rule 76: no excuses play like a champion!" (great movie) But I'm just not sure all the time. When is being tired an excuse and when do I really need sleep and should stay home? When is it a little ache and when's it a reason to lay on the couch? What do you do? How do you motivate yourself?

  1. I like this post. It is hard sometimes to not come up with a reason or an excuse to not exercise. I find myself saying I am tired when I get home and just want to watch TV. I have to force myself to go and turn on my wii and exercise. You are doing so good.
